Everything You Need to Know About 2023 Litters

Hello & Welcome! I am so glad you’re here!

Our last 2023 litter was bred mid-August, 2023. We've got several deposits already for that litter, but we have room for 2 more.   

We have two unreserved puppies remaining in our "Well Trained Puppy" Program. The search for a new fur baby is exciting! But--- it can also be fraught with uncertainty. Your mind is probably swirling with questions. “What breed is best for me? How do I know I’m dealing with a reputable kennel? Is there a way to be certain my puppy is truly healthy?”

Yes indeed, choosing a puppy is so much more than falling in love with a pretty face!

We here at Bernese Mountain Railway understand those concerns. Please let us take a few minutes to introduce our program and explain some of the things that make our adorably sweet puppies so special.

When searching for your fur baby, one of the First questions you should ask is, “How can I be assured this puppy is healthy and free of underlying health issues?”

For us, answering that question is easy! Each of our breeding adults has undergone extensive genetic testing so that we can confidently assure our adoptive parents that their puppy will be free of the painful, heart-breaking maladies which plague so many “backyard” breeding programs. Another top priority is ensuring your puppy’s temperament is well-suited for your family’s lifestyle.

Again, This one is easy for us! Our puppies are the offspring of beloved family pets. Because of this, they are raised in a loving, family setting, where they receive personalized affection & one-on-one training as a part of their daily experience.

To help with this, I use an AKC-certified evaluator and professional Litter Nanny to help raise all my pups. Her name is Ledonna. She flies in right after a litter is born and stays to help me/momma dogs care for and nurture the puppies.

As part of our puppy protocol, we perform Early Neurological Stimulation from age 3 days old through 16 days old. This sets the groundwork for the emotional stability and future training of our puppies. Once this phase is complete, we add additional sensory techniques to ensure your baby has been exposed to an assortment of sights, sounds and experiences. While this strategy does not change the innate temperament of a puppy, it does help ensure our puppies are prepared to become happy, confident, well-adjusted members of your family.

While in our care, our puppies also receive their first, second and 3rd vaccinations, worming, and have their dewclaws removed. The day before your baby is ready to head home, it will have a thorough “well check” visit from our veterinarian’s office. You will receive a copy of all his/her examination paperwork, including doctor’s notes regarding weight, vaccines, wormings and proof of clear fecal test--- all of which gives you the assurance that your puppy is healthy and strong. 

We have each adoptive family fill out an extensive lifestyle questionnaire to ensure the puppy you are matched with best fits your personal expectations. Detailed Explanation of Puppy Cost: 

Broken down by Installment timeline - Currently, puppies for our 2023 litters are being reserved with placement holding deposits. They are being reserved for $500 down & $1,000 good-faith installment payment when we are certain we have a puppy in line (born, healthy, on the ground & Vet Checked) for new depositors and the balance is $2,000 due before they go home. Often times, at my desertion, I will combine the final two transactions into a single invoice right before the puppy leaves my home.
